Houngoose have a second set of retractable claws on their paws, allowing them to leave deep gashes on their opponents. They often get into fights with other scavenger Pokémon over food. When in a pinch, Houngoose use their bony tail as a club.
When it battles, it stands on its hind legs and attacks with its sharply clawed forelegs. In a Houngoose pack, the one with its horns raked sharply back serves a leadership role.
