The silk Ferroscoon produces starts off soft and malleable, but once it dries, it becomes as solid as steel. It is used in a variety of applications; power companies are trying to breed a form that will produce a more conductive thread, like copper.

To avoid detection by its enemies, it hides motionlessly beneath large leaves and in the gaps of branches. They stick their spikes into cave walls and absorb the minerals they find in the rock.
