Bellta are unable to stand after hatching, relying on their parents for protection until they photosynthesize enough energy through their leaves. The red flowers on their head become more vivid as they age.
Bellta are most active when the sun is out, leaving behind petals as they gallop through fields of grass. Those held in captivity need lots of space to keep their bodies fit and healthy.
