Starbell floats near the seafloor as it searches for prey. When it singles out a target, it uses Flash to disorient them and engulfs the target in its large mouth. The large gem above its mouth clamps down and acts as a stopper to prevent escape.

The long vine extending from its head is waved about as if it were a living thing to attract prey. People in ancient times imagined that Starbell were transformed from the reflections of stars that twinkled on gentle waves at night.
