The giant jewel on Starsaur's back is made out of very sturdy sugar crystals, acting as the Pokémon's energy storage. Starsaur has to be very wary when the crystal gets wet, as some Bug-type Pokémon will try to steal the sugar.
To support its bulb, Starsaur's legs grow sturdy. People in ancient times imagined that Starsaur were transformed from the reflections of stars that twinkled on gentle waves at night.
