Marshnub feed along the bottom of lakes and rivers, eating detritus that has fallen out of the water. They are generally slow moving, but are capable of bursts of speed by rapidly fluttering their tail fins.
It roots for food by rubbing its snout against the ground. Its toughened hind legs enable it to stand upright.
