Hortata are considered high-priority nuisances by aquariums all over the world. With their voracious appetites, they infest tanks and feast on microorganisms until there is nothing left. They are easily spooked by larger predatory Pokémon.

A Hortata is cautious in the extreme. By cleverly flicking the fins on its back side to side, it moves in any direction while facing forward.
