Magimander are very easy for fishermen to catch because they swim very close to the surface of the water to stay warm. If their bodies get too cold, their fins stop working, rendering them unable to swim.
The flame that burns at the tip of its tail is an indication of its emotions. Its swimming muscles are weak, so it is easily washed away by currents.
