Upon hatching, Ho-bone gather feathers left behind by their parents. They use the feathers to track the parent to the end of a rainbow, leading to a heartfelt reunion as Ho-bone have proven their survival skills.
It pines for the mother it will never see again. Its feathers--which glow in seven colors depending on the angle at which they are struck by light--are thought to bring joy.
