Unlike Charmander, Chimander's flaming tail isn't an indicator of health: it flickers with its emotions, diet, levels of hunger, elevation, and so on. It can even safely go out! Still, Chimander does not like having its tail extinguished unnaturally.
The flame that burns at the tip of its tail is an indication of its emotions. It agilely scales sheer cliffs to live atop craggy mountains.
