When escaping from predators, its vines sway behind itself to encourage predators to take a bite of a detachable vine. The predator runs off with a vine shortly thereafter, which tastes like a blackberry.
It remains virtually immobile while it clings to a tree. Its vines snap off easily and painlessly if they are grabbed, allowing it to make a quick getaway.
