Tentader's brilliant red shell serves two purposes: one is to give it defense against predators, and the other is to help shut water inside the shell at lower tides. Without water, Tentader shrivels up.
At night, it burrows a hole in the seafloor with its broad tongue to make a place to sleep. Its body is almost entirely composed of water.
