Ninloom spends much of its life below ground, until the spring, when the bulbs on its tail grow too large for tunnels and it loses them. Avid foragers hunt for these fungal bulbs as a rare treat, either cooked alone or as a meal topping.

It scatters spores from holes in the cap on its head. It makes its nest at the roots of a mighty tree.
