Piran are naturally shy and avoid combat. They are generally weak, but have incredible hearing and have sharp barbs hidden under their fur. Anyone injected by the poison leaking from their barbs will develop a painful rash.

Its highly toxic barbs are thought to have developed as protection for this small-bodied Pokémon. It is still inept at retaining electricity.
