When other Pokémon disturb Shellper, usually large bottom feeders, Shellper will run its tongue over their body, grabbing any nutrients that have been caught. They then return to dormancy, using barely any energy.

Shellper usually live in water but come out onto land seeking food occasionally. At night, it burrows a hole in the seafloor with its broad tongue to make a place to sleep.
