Zumander forms colonies in hot and dark places using ultrasonic cries to help navigate. The poison cloud on the end of their tail indicates their life force. The thicker the cloud the healthier they are.
The flame that burns at the tip of its tail is an indication of its emotions. While living in pitch-black caverns, their eyes gradually grew shut and deprived them of vision.
