The "spines" on its back are made of bunched-up silk. While they are too soft and flimsy to pose any real threat, they appear sharp enough to deter some predators when Weeslash curls up defensively.

It curls up in a ball to protect itself from enemy attacks. A Weeslash has an extremely acute sense of smell.
