The large bubble on Wailsect's back helps keep it hydrated when it ventures onto land. Owners of domestic Wailsect occasionally decorate it by placing something within the bubble, which does not appear to harm it in any way.

Wailsect are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients. It breathes through nostrils that it raises above the sea.
