Pokémon poachers have attempted to steal Starster's gemstone. So far none have succeeded, as Starster can tightly clamp its shell closed, or blast out water to flee at high speed.

It swims in the sea by swallowing water, then jetting it out toward the rear. People in ancient times imagined that Starster were transformed from the reflections of stars that twinkled on gentle waves at night.
