Pikarow burns trees by striking them with electricity so it can easily access and hunt insects hiding under dense forest floors. It must be careful not to fly up too high, as otherwise it will attract and be struck by lightning.
Its long neck and elongated beak are ideal for catching prey in soil or water. It stores electricity in the electric sacs on its cheeks.
