Qwilquil retains water in its body that it heats up to rapidly expand when frightened. When it believes the threat has passed, it releases bubbles through its spikes to return to its normal size.
It flares flames from its back to protect itself. A Qwilquil uses the pressure of water it swallows to shoot toxic quills all at once from all over its body.
