Sandiran live in burrows underground with their nest mates to cooperate and gather food together. They often nibble on the ears of older members of the nest to beg for food.

Its highly toxic barbs are thought to have developed as protection for this small-bodied Pokémon. It moves along below the sand's surface, except for its nose and eyes.
