Sablamo nibbles on underwater jewels for sustenance. The color of the gems affects the color of its lightning; a school of Sablamo that have all eaten different jewels could create a colorful electric storm.
A fully charged Sablamo emits visible sparks from its gem-like eyes. It lives in deep crystal caverns, where entire groups feed on gemstones and fill the cave with shimmering colors by passing electricity through the crystal formations.
