Many works of fiction use imagery similar to Octiceus to depict evil deities. There is some historical records that some island civilizations made offerings to it in the past to ensure safe travels across the oceans.

Octiceus dreams in a deep slumber on the seafloor. When disturbed, it secures itself to surrounding surfaces with its suction cups and ring, following this up with a devastating blast from its snout that can tear through tank armor.

It is described in mythology as the Pokémon that shaped the universe with its 1,000 arms. It ensnares its foe with its suction- cupped tentacles before delivering the finishing blow.
