Nidomander huddle together in burrows during the winter months to keep their bodies warm and to prevent their flaming tails from going out. They take turns eating from stashed berries that were collected during Fall.
The flame that burns at the tip of its tail is an indication of its emotions. When it is with its friends or family, its barbs are tucked away to prevent injury.
