Nidoras feeds on rotting plant matter, needing to eat up to 50 pounds of them a day to feed both it and its mushroom. Despite the mushroom being incredibly toxic, its spores are believed to have once been used for medicinal purposes.
A Nidoras has parasitic tochukaso mushrooms growing on its back. Its highly toxic barbs are thought to have developed as protection for this small-bodied Pokémon.
