Maneterra is prone to attracting thunderstorms. When lightning strikes Maneterra's shell, its plates may vitrify into Thunder Stones. This phenomenon is why it is common to see Pikachu living on Maneterra's back.
Small Pokémon occasionally gather on its unmoving back to begin building their nests. Because lightning falls in their vicinities, Maneterra were thought to have been born from lightning.
