A story often told to children is that the prismatic core of Ho-mie is the source of rainbows that form after rainstorms. A Ho-mie can fly without tiring for days, as it thrives off of sunlight absorbed through its core.

People in ancient times imagined that Ho-mie were transformed from the reflections of stars that twinkled on gentle waves at night. Its feathers--which glow in seven colors depending on the angle at which they are struck by light--are thought to bring joy.
