The tip of Haxtung's tongue remains soft until it tenses special muscles in it, which then becomes sharper than metal, and can cut through nearly anything. Poking their armpit causes them to involuntarily tense, which has led to several accidents.
Whenever it sees something unfamiliar, it always licks the object because it memorizes things by texture and taste. Their sturdy tusks will stay sharp even if used to cut steel beams.
