Golusand can manipulate the surrounding sand to shape its own body, which is why it is often found in deserts or along beaches. Its protective nature drives it to shelter small, endangered Pokémon within its walls for as long as they need.

Buried beneath the castle are masses of dried-up bones from those whose vitality it has drained. It is said that Golusand were ordered to protect people and Pokémon by the ancient people who made them.
