To insulate their small bodies and further reinforce their internal flames, Goby clad themselves in mud and small rocks. To defend themselves, they cleverly put pebbles or nuts in their mouths, ignite them, and spit them out at enemies.

If a Goby is spouting yellow flames from its mouth, it is in good health. It is said to live in volcanic craters on mountain peaks.
