Golquil are often gifted as a starter Pokémon to young children, as the bubbles from its back are much safer than the fiery embers of Cyndaquil.
The bubble formation on Golquil's back allows it to breathe for a limited time while out of water. However, it is rarely seen above the surface.
It flares flames from its back to protect itself. In the springtime, schools of POKENAME can be seen swimming up falls and rivers.
