Its a herbivorous Pokémon that lives within moderate distance from larger bodies of water: far enough to keep away from fishing Flying-type Pokémon, but close enough that the nearby flora are strong and bountiful. In a pinch, its tail can bite foes.

Its voracious appetite compels it to devour leaves bigger than itself without hesitation. A Girapie is an herbivore--it eats grass and tree shoots.
