Dugwick's trio of lit candles burn bright enough to be visible just before it surfaces from underground. The lights draw in weak-minded Diglett, coaxing them into its tunnels so it can use the flames to drain their life force.
While shining a light and pretending to be a guide, it leeches off the life force of any who follow it. Because the triplets originally split from one body, they think exactly alike.
