Corblim will anchor itself to a coral reef teeming with life for most of its existence. As the souls of the reef pass on, it collects them within the confines of its balloon body in order to keep their spirits safe.
The upper part of its body is filled with air and floats on the ocean's surface, producing energy through photosynthesis. This energy is shared with the lower part of its body, a large mass of coral deep in the ocean.
