Cofagalge is found among the wreckages of ancient shipping routes, and often signify lost treasure to be found. Legends of Davy Jones's locker are thought to originate from the way Cofagalge's body can open up and seal treasure hunters inside.

Their poison is strong enough to eat through the hull of a tanker, and they spit it indiscriminately at anything that enters their territory. They pretend to be elaborate coffins to teach lessons to grave robbers.
