Chintortle were popular Pokémon amongst artists prior to the advent of electrical lighting, the glow of their tails bright enough to illuminate an entire room at night. Some artists still take them as companions, using their smooth shells as a canvas.
Its large tail is covered with rich, thick fur that deepens in color with age. When it senses danger, it discharges positive and negative electricity from its two antennae.
