Cartortle are said to live for many years. During that time, many hard gemstones grow from their shell, attracting the attention of wild Sableye. Cartortle take advantage of this to form packs that'll provide food in exchange for gems.
Its large tail is covered with rich, thick fur that deepens in color with age. Born from the high temperatures and pressures deep underground, it defends itself by firing beams from the jewel part of its body.
