Carmer lives in subterranean lakes where it exposes its gem-covered belly above the water's surface to lure geovores like Sableye. When the tricked prey climb upon it, Carmer submerges to feed on them.

While this Pokémon usually lives in the sea, it can survive on land, although not too long. Born from the high temperatures and pressures deep underground, it defends itself by firing beams from the jewel part of its body.
