Carsect derive nutrients from the crystals and gems they dig up and eat. They can emit bright lights from the crystals on their backs to disorient enemies.

Carsect are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients. Born from the high temperatures and pressures deep underground, it defends itself by firing beams from the jewel part of its body.
