The lower half of its body is a large opening lined with small, metal blades that can hold onto prey as they are dragged in and swallowed whole. Its species can communicate with one another using their metal antennae on the sides of their heads.

It battles skillfully with its six arms, but spends most of its time peacefully meditating in caves deep beneath the sea. When Belsopod gather in a swarm, they move in perfect unison as if they were but one Pokémon.
