Polivanha live deep in the ocean within the twilight zone, where very little light can reach. Their eyes are protected by a transparent layer of mucus and constantly face toward the surface, capturing what little light there is to allow them to hunt.

Polivanha attack ships in swarms, making them sink. Its body surface is always wet and slick with an oily fluid.
