Phantwhirl colonies are often found in areas that experience heavy logging, and can be seen lingering around cut tree stumps. They are protective of their home, banging their fists against their belly to try and scare people away.

Its body surface is always wet and slick with an oily fluid. These Pokémon are stumps possessed by the spirits of children who died in the forest.
