Though Megacada is well-suited to digging tunnels and absorbing nutrients from tree roots, it is too proud of its bright petals to dirty them with soil. Instead, it clings to tree branches, hoping to disguise itself as a flowering bud.
When the air grows cold and the rain turns into snow, it shrivels into a small bud and remains dormant. Once the snow melts, its head emerges through the dirt to spread its petals and soak in the sunlight.
