Magpert submerges itself almost completely in lava pools, its favorite spot to relax and keep its body coated with fresh magma. Rocky parts of its body that fall off are consumed to regain nutrients.
If it senses the approach of a storm and a tidal wave, it protects its seaside nest by piling up boulders. The shell on its back is made of hardened magma.
