It carries around a large volcanic rock it uses as a shield. When weakened, it will make a new shield with its high-temperature claws.
Its rock shield was once composed by different layers of brimstone, coal, iron and different gems like diamonds and emeralds. Nowadays, they all have merged into an opaque irregular slag.
It digs branching holes in caves using its sharp claws in search of food--raw gems. The shell on its back is made of hardened magma.
