Krookoper produces a gel in its throat that allows it to scoop up sand in its mouth that then goes to a separate stomach-like organ. Here it extracts any moisture before coughing it back up, allowing it to survive in areas few others venture.
Krookoper usually live in water but come out onto land seeking food occasionally. It can expand the focus of its eyes, enabling it to see objects in the far distance as if it were using binoculars.
