Glaceper are so cold that rivers with colonies of them are 6°C colder than they would be otherwise, making them much more prone to freezing. If this happens, they poke holes into the ice so enough oxygen can still get into the water.
Glaceper usually live in water but come out onto land seeking food occasionally. As a protective technique, it can completely freeze its fur to make its hairs stand like needles.
