In desert communities long ago, Trainers kept Cactper as guards. They would spew thorns from their gills as strangers approached, the colour of these thorns would indicate if the strangers were welcome.
Cactper usually live in water but come out onto land seeking food occasionally. After spending thousands of years in harsh deserts, its blood transformed into the same substances as sand.
