In ancient times, this species nearly went extinct due to the development of aquatic predators in the icy seas they inhabit. They developed to counter these predators by creating auroras with their singing to distract them while they swim away.

People have driven Amaras almost to the point of extinction. This ancient Pokémon was restored from part of its body that had been frozen in ice for over 100 million years.
